The Crew

The AD helps the director in fulfill the vision of the show.  Often this person is called upon to help with group scenes, to give extra rehearsal time for scenes, to help coach character work.  Working closely with the director, the AD takes rehearsal notes, offers suggestions, and helps with planning.

A vital role for the production the ASM helps the stage manager in all things. They are most often backstage during the production keeping the needs of the production in order and managing the activity backstage. The ASM takes instruction from the stage manager and does most if not all of the same tasks as the stage manager.

The Designer uses the script and Director’s vision to determine costume needs for each character and scene in the play.  Costume team will source items and fit clothing and accessories to help the story come alive.

The director gives the creative vision for the show.  They provide the overall understanding of the script and offer suggestions for the design teams.  As well, the director will cast the show and conduct rehearsals. They are the first audience; they give commentary about the characters and or/movement onstage, what works and what may need development or change.

The liaison between the company and the production, the producer is in charge of a variety of tasks that occur before rehearsals, during rehearsals, during the show dates and post production.

As Props lead or team member, you gather and source all the items handled by actors during a show, all within the budget provided by the Producer.  Some props are already with RAPA, but some will need to be bought or made.  This role is great for creative and resourceful folks.  Most of the work is done on your own time but a few rehearsals and production meetings will need to be attended.

As Set Designer, your job is to design a set that reflects the playwright’s story and the Director’s vision.

Works with Director and Set Designer to finish and polish the set.

The stage manager manages the production.  They keep track of the work that is being done onstage, as well as the work that is being done off stage to support the production.  A right hand to the director, their work is vital to allow the director the freedom to create.
