Costume Designer and Costume Team
The Designer uses the script and Director’s vision to determine costume needs for each character and scene in the play. Costume team will source items and fit clothing and accessories to help the story come alive.
Responsibilities
Read the script and create list of needs for characters/scenes.
Meet with Director for vision.
Measure the cast.
Attending production meetings and provide updates.
Source items from storage, actors, other theatres, second-hand stores, etc., possibly even make items.
Attend rehearsals for fittings.
Make alterations as needs.
Get final Director approval on all completed looks.
During the run, be available for laundry, repairs/alterations. Make a list of quick changes or costumes that need a dresser and be available for such or tell Producer of such needs so a dresser can be secured.
After the run, assist with laundry, cleaning, and returning costumes and items to appropriate people/facilities.
