About the event

Auditions will consist of a read of either a short 1-2 minute piece that you've selected or a cold read of sides provided at the auditions.  We're looking for you to do your reading in the style of the character you are auditioning for and we will also pair actors up to see how people work together!  You'll find the play synopsis and character descriptions below.

We're expecting all actors to arrive at the start of the audition (7pm on Thursday, August 24th or 2pm on Saturday, August 26th) and we do not expect to have callbacks.

If you have any questions, please send an email to auditions@rapa.ca!

PLAY SYNOPSIS:

Santa needs to adjust Bob the Elf’s cranky attitude by teaching him a lesson in co-operation and leadership. Bob, who has been passed up for a key management position at the North Pole toymaking facility, is sent off to help the thespians of Thithelville with their disastrous Christmas pageant.

In Thithelville, Bob meets a rather self-absorbed director and a clueless stage manager who are trying to work with a few actors who are a little unclear on the concept. Kind of like herding cats, but way funnier and without the claws (except the Santa kind, that is).

It’s the night before the presentation and all seems lost, until Bob decides to take charge and bring it all together – and learns a lesson in the doing.

Available parts are as follows:

Bob – male, 25-40ish

Santa/Howard Widebottom (a dual role) – male, 60ish plus

Gord Ford – male, any age

Les Banter – male, any age

Amber Faircastle – female, 25-45ish

Fiona Putzle – female, 55ish plus

All genders are welcome.

We will also be looking for some children to play choir members 7-10 and under!
